Chapter Four – The Northern Lights

I don’t have many pictures which correlate specifically with Chapter Four. In this Chapter I meet Nate and Cassandra, and the two of us see the northern lights. Enjoy these pictures which come from around that same time period in Glacier.

“The next day I met Nate Willis and we immediately became friends. He was tall and blonde from Ventura, California. I met him at breakfast, he was about my age…

“I love life” he told us. It was clear he did by the energetic way he carried himself.”

“The Iceberg lake trail is breathtakingly scenic, with sweeping views around every corner looking to Mt. Wilbur. At one angle on the trail you look up the steep slopes and realize Wilbur’s sheer, shield-like east face is equally sheer on the backside. The jagged summit of this wicked mountain looks from there only slightly thicker than a broken window pane.”

“…Then Nate took off on another trail, with a different group of friends. He ended up hiking 25 miles that day, all through the pristine forests and exposed rock ridges. Wake up and intake massive calories at the breakfast buffet, then hike like maniacs for a few hours before reloading on the lunch buffet. More play all afternoon before the dinner buffet, then finally drinking the night away with dozens of friends, that’s the Many Glacier lifestyle.”
